2degrees is a German company helping households transition to cleaner energy. They needed a web tool that could guide users through the complexity of solar panels, heat pumps, wind solutions, and energy storage — and give them personalised cost and savings calculations.

The challenge

Energy decisions are complicated. The calculation model had to account for roof orientation, local irradiation data, household consumption patterns, grid feed-in tariffs, and subsidy eligibility — all while presenting results in a way that non-technical homeowners could act on.

What we built

We built the full product: a React frontend with a step-by-step exploration flow, and a Node.js backend handling the calculation engine and data integrations. The tool is live at tool.2degrees.energy and is used by households across Germany to model their energy transition.

Clear data presentation was as important as calculation accuracy. We spent significant time on the result screens — making sure the numbers told a story, not just filled a table.
